HOWTO: use the DVTS Windows XP client to "listen" to a DVTS multicast stream
First, download the DVTS
softwarefor
your Windows XP machine(s).
To receive a multicast
stream, launch the DVTS program.
Fill in the text box labelled "Multicast Address" with the multicast
address of the DVTS stream you want to view. Then "click" on the
button labelled "Join". You should then see a Message Box that
looks like this:
Click on the button labelled "OK". You should then see another
window open. It may remain blank for a few seconds (or even for a
couple of minutes!). Be patient! It takes a while for your
network router to "find" a source for the multicast stream.
To receive a unicast
stream, launch the DVTS program. Then just click on the button
labelled "Start
Receive". Another window should open and you should begin
receiving the video stream as soon as the sender begins transmitting to
the IP address of your machine.
It is possible to use different ports for sending and receiving than
8000. This is generally not necessary, but if the need arises,
there are places on the DVTS window that will allow you specify
different port numbers.
